Salar de Uyuni

09 Dec 2008

So this was it, the part of the trip that we had heard the most about, a 3 day 4x4 trek through the desert, including visiting lagoons, geysers, volcanoes, seeing flamingos and llamas, and of course the amazing salt flats near the town of Uyuni in the south of Bolivia.

So where are we now?

08 Dec 2008

At the moment we are in Sucre, which is a fairly big city in Bolivia. We just arrived here this morning at 6am. We´ve lots of photos to put up but haven´t found any Wifi recently so can´t upload them, but maybe tomorrow hopefully…

North Argentina and a Little Bit of Chile...

08 Dec 2008

Hello hello.. Sorry for lack of blogging but the auld wee fee was hard to come by for a while… So after Tucuman we went higher to Tafi De Valle to some cooler temperatures. We both ended up being sick at the same time so recovered a little and move onwards and upwards to Cafayte. Spent a few more days there. Rented some bicycles but found the sandy tracks very tricky to cycle on…

Update...

23 Nov 2008

So it has been a while since we have been online; we have been real busy travelling across the north of argentina.

Back in Montevideo....

17 Nov 2008

Two days later and back in Montevideo! We went on a little summer holiday out to Piriápolis. Its a real seaside town. Stayed in a cute little cabin. The guy who owned the place mumbled to Peter how fine the Irish whiskey is! As its just spring here the place was a little bit quiet but it was a good break and nice to see the sea…

Montivideo

15 Nov 2008

At the moment we are in Motivideo, the capital of Uruguay. We were expecting great things after Colonia, but it’s a bit disappointing. It’s a little dingy, dusty and really really dead. We’re here on a Saturday and it was very quiet today. We went to an indoor market kind of place that specialises in Bar-B-Ques. It sounded great and looked great, and since we hadn’t had any breakfast we decided to go for the full works; a full platter of meat of questionable origin for two. Chops, chicken, sausages, black puddings, spicy sausages, and a few other wobbly things. We won’t be doing that again..
